TO MANY he’s a hero, but to others he is fighting a lost cause.
But anti-VRT campaigner Ryan Stewart has announced today that he hopes to become a TD for Donegal North East at the next General Election – which could now be in March if the Government gets its way.
Stewart has led a vocal campaign, including a successful Facebook petition, seeking to scrap Vehicle Registration Tax.
A Revenue clampdown has seen hundreds of vehicles seized this year for not being registered in the Republic.
But Stewart sees himself as more than an anti-VRT campaigner, and hopes there is enough support for an Independent candidate to take a seat fighting on Donegal issues.
“I want to highlight the VRT issue nationally but also the jobs crisis here in Donegal,” said Ryan Stewart today.
