DRUNK LETTERKENNY MAN FINED FOR IGNORING BOMB WARNING

February 25, 2011

A Letterkenny man has been fined €250 for failing to listen to Gardai during a bomb alert in Bridgend.

Edward Sweeney, from Oldtown, was ‘very much the worse for wear’ when he tried to enter a cordoned off area to retrieve tools from a work van.

The incident on March 29th last year began when a van hijacked in Derry was abandoned in the Border town. The Irish Army later carried out a controlled explosion.
