Gardai have uncovered a major drugs factory in a house in Buncrana.
More than €190,000 worth of herbal cannabis has been found following a raid on a house on the outskirts of the town.
The raid followed a routine traffic check by Gardai on a van in the Burnfoot area on Sunday evening.
Subsequent information led Gardai to the house which had been specially wired and ventilated for cannabis growth.
Garda Supt Kevin English has revealed the estimated worth of the cannabis found could be much greater once processed by Gardai.
“We expect that estimate could rise significantly once Gardai process the scene.
“The house was wired and ventilated to a high standard. The three people arrested in connection with the find are foreign nationals.
“We believe that the work was carried out by technicians known personally to the men who were running this operation,” he said.
Three non-nationals have been arrested on connection with the raid and are being quizzed at Buncrana Garda station.
This is the third cannabis factory find in recent months in the area with further discoveries by Gardai in both Carrigans and Stranorlar.
