Following the recent electoral successes of Fine Gael, Donegal North East has reorganised and has successfully undertaken a recruitment drive across the County along with the organisation in Donegal South West.
The branch re-launched on April 21st and a new committee was elected with Leah Kavanagh as Chairperson and David mc Laughlin as Secretary. The President of Young Fine Gael Eric Keane attended the first meeting.
It was decided to name the newly reorganised branch “The Dr. Garret Fitzgerald DNE Branch YFG” in honour of the late former Taoiseach, Minister and Leader of Fine Gael, and in recognition of the fact that along with his numerous political achievements, he was also founder of Young Fine gael.
Donegal North East has had a busy few weeks since re-launching. We have met up with local Fine Gael representatives on a regular basis. We have also met with Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food Simon Coveney, and most recently we went on a trip to Brussels as guests of MEP Jim Higgins.
We hope that by the end of the summer we will have completed our first campaign and will continue to work to try and strengthen the organisation in Donegal.
