One of Donegal’s largest parishes is to consider rearranging mass times amidst concerns of dwindling mass numbers.
Priests at St Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny are considering changing mass times, dropping some masses and also introducing a Sunday evening mass.
There are currently five Sunday morning masses at 8am, 9am, 10am, 11.15am and 12.15pm as well as Saturday evening mass.
However priests at yesterday’s masses revealed they are now seeking feed-back from parishioners about proposed changes to mass times.
The move means the parish may decide to drop one of the morning masses and replace it with the proposed evening mass on Sunday.
A source said there was no denying that numbers were down.
“St.Eunan’s is no different than any other parish in the country in that numbers are down.
“This is just an effort to better use mass times and it will also hopefully suit parishioners.
“No decisions have been made but the parish wants to hear from parishioners,” he said.
