While the rest of us are looking forward to a warm drink in front of a crackling fire on Christmas Eve, many people across Ireland will sleep on the streets.
Donegal reporter Jerome Hughes spent some days living rough on the streets of Dublin in the run-up to last Christmas.
His excellent documentary was first shown on TV3 last year but can be seen again tomorrow night on TV3 at 9pm.
In ‘Homeless For Christmas’ Hughes is moved on by Gardai, told where he can get a hot meal, abused and also shown compassion by passers-by.
It’s a different take on Christmas but one we should all take an hour to watch for the next time we avert our eyes from the gaze of a homeless person looking for some change we can always afford.
