THERE are reports of thick fog in many areas of County Donegal overnight with Gardai warning motorists to slow down in affected areas today.
Readers have been contacting us from several parts of the county warning of foggy conditions.
Motorists should be careful in the following areas – the main roads from the Twin Towns towards Letterkenny (it’s very thick around Drumkeen) and Lifford as well as the Barnesmore Gap.
It’s also foggy around Milford, Ramelton, Carndonagh, Donegal Town, on the main road near Burt, Manor and Newtown.

The warning came as temperatures across Donegal rose overnight to an incredible 11C!
That’s TWENTY DEGREES HIGHER than it was this time last year.
Met Eireann’s current forecast for Christmas Day is as follows: “Current indications suggest a mild and breezy day for Christmas Day. There’ll be heavy and persistent rain in the northwest and west but there’ll be drier weather elsewhere for a time.
“Rain will extend to all areas on Christmas night will turn heavy on St Stephen’s Day, and it will be cool too with a frost returning at night as winds veer to the northwest again on St Stephen’s night.”
