MORE than 30 Mountain Rescue Responders from Donegal, Sligo/Leitrim and Mayo Teams took part in a Major exercise with a Baldonnel Army AER Corps unit with 10 Staff and 2 Helicopters who flew to Finner Army Camp.
Exercises consisted of picking up and dropping off large numbers of Mountain Rescue Responders quickly in daylight and pitch dark conditions using night vision.
The exercise is aimed to have the capability to insert MRT Teams quickly onto Mountain terrain to conduct searches day or night for the missing or injured.
Said Brian Murray of DMRT: “It was a fantastic exercise for all concerned and was our first night time exercise. It means we will be able to response to emergencies much more quickly in the future.”
