Fresh from her trip to Zambia, Foróige Chairperson Mairi McMahon now knows more than most about what a huge difference we all could make to the young people born in a region blighted by extreme poverty, where the average life expectancy is just 45 years old.
Mairi travelled as part of a group of interested parties — which included fellow Foróige team member Noel Cronin and as well as Michelle Hennessy, a former Foróige youth officer in Donegal who now works on the ground in Kaoma — to oversee the establishment of the Albert Schweitzer Leadership for Life Programme in Kaoma in Zambia. The programme is due to be established in the region thanks to the Alan Kerins Project, Foróige and Vodafone.
