This was the scene in Ballyshannon and Bundoran areas earlier today after they were hit with a massive hail storm.
These pictures, taken by Kenneth McDonagh from the facebook page Donegal Weather Channel, show some of the hail bigger than 50c pieces.
“I haven’t seen hail stones that big,” said the amateur forecaster.
“They hit my house and I thought the roof was going to come in!”
The whole county has suffered hail storms on and off today.
Kenneth is predicting more of the same tonight, with showers again tomorrow.
Sunday however is expected to be dry and sunny for most of the day.
Met Eireann says our weather will take a turn for the worst however on Sunday night with storms predicted for Donegal on Monday and Tuesday with very heavy rain.
A spokesman said: “On Sunday night rain will move in from the Atlantic, and it will spread nationwide on Monday, with some heavy falls likely. Highest temperatures on Monday will range from 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
“There will be more heavy rain on Monday night with some heavy falls during the morning. The rain will clear in the late morning and heavy showers will develop on Tuesday afternoon. Then later on Tuesday night, more heavy rain with strong winds will develop. The rain will clear early on Wednesday morning to give a fairly dry day, with just isolated shower.”
