TEA DANCES
The Family Resource Centre has been contacted by a number of people regarding the running of morning time tea dances as a social outlet. Therefore, the Centre would like to hear if there is sufficient interest for such a pursuit. We would also like to hear from anyone willing to help out, provide suitable live music or donate/loan CDs or records. If there is enough interest it is likely that the tea dances will start in early June and on a Thursday morning from 11am-1pm. ASIST
For each of the past 3 years the Family Resource Centre has hosted the ASIST Suicide Awareness Training and again in 2012 we are proposing to host the training. The training which is for 2 full days is for parents, caregivers, youth workers, volunteers, teachers, sport coaches and anyone living or working in the community who wish to feel more competent, confident and comfortable in reducing the risk of suicide. The ASIST training is planned for Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th June. For further information or to book a place, please contact 0749145796.
Safe TALK Training
The Family Resource Centre is proposing to host the safe TALK training programme that prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. These specific skills are called ‘suicide alertness’. The half-day training is suitable for everyone who wants to help prevent suicide and is prepared to become ‘suicide alert’.

COUNSELLING SERVICES
Raphoe Family Resource Centre offers a free and confidential weekly counselling service to the general public. This person-centred service is for those experiencing Bereavement/Loss, Separation, Abuse, Mental Health Difficulties and issues around sexuality. The service operates on an appointment basis only.

LITTLE SMILES WITH BIG DREAMS
Little Smiles with Big Dreams is a friendly baby and toddler group situated in Raphoe Family Resource Centre. We are open every Wednesday morning from
10.30 – 12 noon. Little Smiles with Big Dreams is a group that focus on fun for the kids and the opportunity for parents, grandparents and extended family to have discussions with other adults. It is a great way to introduce your child to a social environment while you can discuss parenting tips with others. There is no charge but your kiddies will enjoy playing with all our lovely toys, having messy play, singing and dancing and a light lunch is provided.

RAPHOE TIDY TOWNS APPEAL 2012
The National Tidy Town Application for Raphoe has arrived and as in past years the Tidy Towns are seeking your great help and support as always. In recent weeks the Tidy Towns community employment scheme workers have collected over 124 bags of litter from 7 of our approach roads with a number still to do for Spring Clean 2012. You can help us this year again by keeping your properties/businesses and gardens to a good and tidy standard, donate paint, shrubs or flowers, tidy derelict properties, put out window boxes or hanging baskets & keep your area litter free.
If you intend painting please consider doing so during April and May. The success of Tidy Towns each year is community effort by all in Raphoe from children right through to our seniors which is very much appreciated. If you can help us in any way it will be very much appreciated. SELF MANAGEMENT COURSE
The HSE is providing a self management course for people with long term conditions and Carers of people with long term conditions that promotes self care. Self care means looking after yourself and your general health so that you can manage your life and not just your condition. The course is free of charge and is run over six weekly sessions, each lasting 2 ½ hours. Courses are being provided across the county. RAPHOE BOXING CLUB
The Raphoe boxing club are staging a fundraising draw at the moment with tickets on sale for a Manchester United signed football jersey and tickets are keenly priced at €5 each and the draw will take place in the club house on Friday 11th May.
On Saturday night last, club boxers Cody Lafferty, Liam Crawford, Liam McMonagle and Oran Devine were all in action at a major boxing tournament in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran and all these promising young boxers gave very impressive performances in front of a 600 plus crowd.
Anyone wishing to purchase a DVD of the clubs recent boxing tournament in the Cathedral Hall can do so by contacting Simon Barr on 0870532480 and DVD’s are priced keenly at €10 with all funds going to the boxing club.
On Sunday evening last Raphoe’s middle-weight kingpin John Sweeney turned in an explosive display of power-punching when he out pointed Convoy’s Tom McDonagh at a major tournament in St. Mary’s Hall, Convoy.
GLENMAQUIN NATIONAL SCHOOL

We are a 2 teacher school with one part-time Teaching Assistant and one part-time Learning Support Teacher. We are located conveniently to Raphoe, Convoy (3.5miles) and Letterkenny.
As we are a small school, all our children get great individual attention alongside the ability to take advantage of lots of trips, e.g. theatre, workshops, libraries, cooking, gardening, crafts and lots more! These trips are all funded through the schools various fundraising activities e.g. Christmas Bazaar.
