MAN SENT FOR TRIAL FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF LETTERKENNY MAN

A man charged with the attempted murder of a well-known Letterkenny man has been sent for trial at Derry Magistrate’s Court today.

Paul Greatbanks, with an address at Maghaberry Prison, appeared at a preliminary enquiry.

The 47 year old was charged with the murder of Patrick Harkin and the attempted murder of Co Donegal musician Paul Mythen (pictured) on February 20 last year.

Greatbanks said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this time.

He was returned for trial to appear at Laganside court in Belfast on June 22.

Mr Mythen suffered severe injuries in the incident and is still in hospital as a result.

Paul Mythen is well-known in the alternative arts scene around Letterkenny and Derry where he was part of the nartystation.com movie company.

He has starred in 16 of the group’s films and also played guitar.

Formerly of Croagh Patrick Avenue, his sister Clare, who spend man weeks at his bedside in hospital, died suddenly last year.
