The seminar gets underway at 7pm.
VISIT TO LEINSTER HOUSE
Following on from the recent visit to Stormont on 1st May members of the Speaking up Reaching out Project will travel to Dublin on 12th and 13th June to meet with Donegal Oireachtas members. The group will be raising issues that affect people with disabilities and will urge the public representatives to use their influence in effecting change at a National level.
One of the issues raised with MLAs at Stormont on 1st May was unpaid employment and on 25th May Lord Morrow MLA asked the First Minister and Deputy First Minister whether they will introduce Legislation to ensure that people with a disability, who are working on a placement for no salary, are not discriminated against by any employer when salaried posts become available, particularly those people who have been on placement for more than six months.
We trust that our TDs and Senators will also give due consideration to the issues raised by the group.
The Speaking up Reaching out Project is supported by the European Union Intereg IVA Programme managed by the Special EU Programme Body and delivered by co-operation and working together (CAWT) Community Awareness Programme.
