AA IRELAND and Gardai have warned motorists across County Donegal to SLOW DOWN after several hours of heavy rain today.
There are flooded roads in the following areas: Letterkenny, Ramelton, Lifford, Milford, Gaoth Dobhair and Pettigo.
Met Eireann has just issued a gale warning and a flood warning for Ulster. It’s latest radar image shows the head of a storm hitting south Donegal.
“Road conditions this evening are particularly poor,” said a Garda spokesman, “and we would urge motorists to slow down and take care.”
AA Ireland echoed that advice saying motorists in the North West may have gotten used to the dry conditions of recent weeks and need to adjust their driving to suit these conditions.
The bad news from Met Eireann is that more heavy rain will hit Donegal on Friday, though Saturday looks like being a much better day.
