County Hurling Minor Board
The Ulster U21 Hurling Championship Shield semi-final will by played by our County Hurlers on Wednesday 13th June. The U12 County team face Tyrone in Healy Park at 7.30 pm.
Best of luck to all our County Hurlers currently undertaking examinations.
As a new fun innitiative and an incentive to get more hurlers/Camogie players involved in the Ulster Poc Fada there will now be a team event. The team will consist of 3 members each striking in turn so it is best to ensure all have good strikes. It will be great to see 10-15 clubs heading out together, marking eachother & having the Craic on the mountain at the ulster poc fada. Remember that there is an open invite for Donegal Hurlers to the puck fada in Ulster which will take place on Divis Mountain on Thursday 21st June, commencing at 7.00pm. The competition caters for U16, Senior and Over 40’s Hurling, Senior and Over 35’s Camogie and Senior Football. Winners of this competition qualify for the National Poc Fada Championships. For more information contact Jimmy Darragh at jimmy.darragh.ulster@gaa.ie
In the U14 Hurling Championship Semi-Finals St. Eunan’s lost out narrowly to Buncrana in what could only be considered a nail-biting game.
The U16 Hurling League Round 1 between Setanta and St Eunans will be held on the 5th July. The U12 compete in a blitz held in Aodh Ruadh on 17th June with the League beginning on July 5th. The next U10 blitz will be held in O’Donnell Park (St. Eunan’s) on the 24th June. The U8’s blitz will be held in the Gaels pitch. All dates are provisional. Please confirm your attendance at blitzes for the convenience of the host club.
There was an U8 Hurling Blitz last Sunday in Cardonagh. Carndonagh, Buncrana, Burt, the Letterkenny Gaels and St Eunans all presented teams. St Eunans under 8 Hurlers fielded two teams with each playing five games. The number of players and the level of support from parents was wonderful to see. Many thanks to the parents that travelled for their help and vocal support.
St Eunan Hurling & Camogie club are based in Letterkenny town. St Eunans cater for Hurlers & Camogie players at U8, U10, U12 and U14, with further hurling for U16, Minor & Seniors. As the Camogie is still somewhat new to the club higher levels of Camogie should become available as the teams progress. The recent Letterkenny Primary Schools Hurling and Camogie competition provided a great opportunity for children to experience the sport and there are many coaching sessions available. The Hurling and Camogie Academies run every Friday at 6:30pm in O’Donnell Park. Places are always available for new players of any age so feel free to contact any of the coaches including Academy Manager Eunan O’Donnell: 0876775637. For a list of training times go to www.steunansgaa.com and select Minor Board Hurling from the menu on the left.
