Donegal has become the unofficial tornado capital of Ireland in the wake of yesterday’s sighting of a huge wind funnel in Inishowen.
Donegaldaily has been sent in several reports of other such tornadoes across different parts of the county yesterday.
Our picture shows another tornado outside Lifford shortly after 2pm yesterday – just hours after the 700 metre weather phenomenon struck outside Buncrana.
The image was captured on a mobile phone by motorist Noel McMenamin when he pulled in to capture the scene on the main Letterkenny to Lifford road.
We have also had another report from a tornado hitting ground in the Fintown area.
Met Eireann has warned that the current weather conditions are ideal for such wind funnels which are then classified as tornados if they reach the ground.
