Mr Harte should quit the school play ground boy bully antics and concentrate on doing something productive himself for once. Look closer to home before giving someone else criticism Jimmy.
Jimmy has a chip on his shoulder, the popularity of Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty Paraig McLochlainn & others has got to him, he is a member of a party thats only function is propping up the Party that rejected him, it musnt be easy for him !
It would be nice to see Jimmy actually make a statement which is not based on criticism of others.
He is far too negative and defensive.
Forget the A5.
It would be great if the road from Letterkenny to Lifford was the same standard as roads in the rest of the country. And a proper Dual Carriageway/Motorway from Aughnacloy to Ardee.
And another proper road from here to Galway? Then maybe we would have similar investment both in industry, commerce and tourism as the east, south and west. With subsequent job creation.
But aside from the issue of a decent road from Donegal to Galway (since folk on the fringes must always be neglected – right?), what about just looking at the disgraceful part of the same road between the major centre of Sligo and Galway? I don’t know of anywhere else where two such population centres are so poorly linked!
@Jason
Its looking more and more like it. The greens and the PD’s left their core beliefs behind and stayed in power at any cost – labour seems doomed to follow in their footsteps.
Maybe there will be a new party in the future.
Fianna Gael or Fine Fail perhaps?
I cant tell the difference between them anymore.
Are there not 5 parties in the Stormont executive rather than 2 and isn’t there a mandatory coalition in place whereby any policy must be agreed to by a majority of the MLAs?
Moreover, is it not the case that the A5 would have been sidelined by the Unioist parties who are not particularly in favour of the project were it not for the efforts of Sinn Fein amongst others?
Jimmy Harte seems to lack a fundamental understanding of how the Stormont Executive functions!
I’m sorry Senator Harte but the ‘predicted response’ you mention from Sinn Fein and Fianna Fail to the stimulus package is what I believe to be a true statement of fact. I do not support Sinn Fein or Fianna Fail, in fact I supported this Governments Party candidates in the last Election, I had hoped it would be the beginning of a new open and more fairer period in Irish Politics. I gave my support to those candidates in the belief that they would stand up and deliver for the people of Donegal in light of all the pre-election commitments and statements made by them and their Party Leaders to us the People of Donegal. We are not looking for special treatment (even though we deserve it after all the years of neglect)we just want equal treatment. You expect us to be happy with crumbs off the Ministerial Table but we need and deserve more. Instead of deflecting attention away from the poor stimulus package delivered to Donegal by criticizing the opposition Parties or commenting on whats happening in Northern Ireland regarding funding matters, Minister Mc Ginley,Deputy McHugh and yourself would be better served doing what you were Elected and are paid to do, by delivering real job and infrastructural projects to Donegal. If you cant, then resign and give someone else a chance.
The following section is comment I made on the stimulus package in a previous article. “Different Government but the same treatment for Donegal. Its well documented that we are and have been constantly neglected by all of our Governments, yet again we are being treated as second class Citizens. We are expected to be delighted about 2 Health Centers and a Court House,(yes its good to get them)but what about the Roads, Schools, Water and Sewage Treatment Plants, and the other Infrastructural Projects we were promised. It just shows what poor quality Public Representatives we have because they cant deliver for the people that Elected them. Would any Government Public Representatives care to comment on this Reply,it would be interesting to have their views on our Neglect”.
Once again Senator Harte,I’m now asking you again to give a Reply to my comments.
The construction of the two primary care centres and the courthouse will cost, say, €5million – that is about 0.25% of the €2 billion stimulus package. You did a mighty job to get the county that much Jimmy!!!!!
While you sit in a talking shop, an unelected politician getting easy money it would do your cause a lot of good if you stood up for us the unemployed of Donegal. Your friends in the IMF now recommend more cuts and on whom, that’s right the people at the bottom, the people who are already paying the price. I await your protests on behalf of the people to the leadership of the smoked salmon socialists and their advisors
Jimmy Harte continues to show why he can not get elected in Donegal. FG have done nothing but lie to get into power and continue to do so now. The last election was anyone but FF. FG and Labour have put themselves in the same position now.

Hear, hear!

If there is no infrastructure in place to get people to donegal — there will be no economic recovery for us.
(Of course the holy city of dublin MUST get investment because it is SO important.)
Harte — try standing up for us for a change and you will beat sinn fein hands down.
Dont fight for us and you will lose.
Its as simple as that.
Does anyone else think that labour are heading the same way as the Greens, into the abyss!!!!!

I don’t know about thinking that they are, but I’m certainly hoping so!

It’s not that he lacks understanding it’s that he doesn’t want to understand.Giving out at others while his party(parties?)bleed the country dry.

WOW ….. very well said.
But dont hold your breath for a response from any of them. Their spin doctors wouldnt approve.
