I’m a and always have been a fan of the county team and GAA in the county but I must be missing something here. The county is all but on it’s knees and will be soon.I won’t go into the reasons because everyone knows but for an elected representative of the coalition government to bring this up baffles me. I would have though that there were more important issues to for him to fighting for the people of this county than the showing of the match. Like the future of the senate I sometimes question the need for county councils if this the best your going to get.
Cllr Farren should realise that TV3 always had the choice of which quarter finals to cover as per the joint televising arrangement in place with GAA headquarters.
As Donegal and Kerry are obviously the marquee game tv3 had first choice so had nothing to do with rte at all
Also it states that RTE did not cover the clippers or the fiddle convention at all
There were various programmes on radio ie seascapes etc and some minor slots on television so he is wrong there also…..
Might try and get elected to Lifford to pick up my 33 thousand a year…..might have my facts correct before going whingeing to the media
Kieran you are wrong here. Out of the 4 quarter finals RTE had first and fourth choice. They elected to pick Dublin first. TV3 had second and third choice and chose Donegal vs. Kerry and Cork vs. Kildare thus forcing Mayo vs. Down as RTE’s fourth choice. Look it up online you will find these facts. So Cllr is correct. Dublin have been selected over Donegal in this instance.
A few weeks ago when Harps and derry were in FAI cup duty the 2 northwest teams fixtures were not even included on the teletext but yet rte could tell you to the second when somebody farted in Tallaght ..Its no loss that they’re not covering the Donegal match cause its on BBC2 Northern Ireland and at least they want the Ulster clubs to do well and are not biased like our national broadcaster
Even though I’m a gaa fan and will be at Croker on Sunday, it’s good to know that the people we elected to serve our electoral areas are sitting in lifford talking about television.
I honestly can’t believe this is a news item….the only reason this should be here is to point out the stupidity and ignorance of Martin Farren!!I’m shocked one of these councillors hasn’t complained that we’re too far north yet and demanded we move further south!
The words “Bandwagon” and “jumping on” come to mind here!! Honest to goodness if this is the type of stuff that is keeping Cllr Farren awake at night there is no hope at all for the country any more!! Wonder if Pearse Doherty and Sinn Fein will be holding a protest rally about this soon!!!
This is real Ballygobackwards stuff. Or maybe Councillor Farren is right – staff in RTE walk up and down the corridors of Montrose 24/7 brainstorming ideas to show a lack of respect to the county of Donegal. Maybe the next step is to ban Daniel from RTE airwaves.
I’m just sorry for anyone abroad who cant get match on internet. Apart from that it doesnt matter in Ireland. Sure all of Donegal will be in Croke Park and win or lose the team have given us a great year so far.
I think all of you aremissing the point here, he is referring to the total lack of coverage for Donegal in general from the national broadcaster. Many groups in donegal and inishowen in particular are trying hard to attract tourists to the area by way of festivals and one off events but they never get airtime to promote their events. The government wont help us so when we try to create opportunities to provide employment you would think RTE would back us up. I agree with Martin it needed saying and to us it is not trivial.
who cares, lets all support our county where we r from and stop bickering use twats! forgotten county? i dont think so, kerry eat my words mother funkers!

how often do we see finn harps on rte. all live l.o.i games feature dublin teams playing at home.

What’s next why don’t rte show re runs of bosco?

Kieran, you are wrong. RTE had first choice and went for Dublin. They released a statement on their website earlier in the week.
What about the commitment of TG4 and Raidio na Gaeltachta to soccer and other sports in the Gaeltacht counties including Donegal.

I feel another Tribunal coming on.
Good man Gary not Gamble,
Kieran is wrong.
Im not a GAA follower but we’ll have a collection for you Martin if you cant afford a ticket.
Haha,,,,
of course RTE are going to pick Dublin 1st, they’re all ireland champions for god sakes
Maybe rte think only protestants play for DONEGAL and Kerry
