I am so glad to hear that people are starting to really take notice and hope that this will continue. Remember Donegal health services have not been on the national agenfda for a very lonf time, if ever!! I would take this a step further and suggest you cc your email to Donegal Oireachtas Members so they are all clear that serious cuts to LGH budget, the recruitment embargo & no additional funding to open the new unit will be tolerated!! They are all in Dail Eireann and when they are in power this health entitlement for the people of Donegal will still remain!! These cuts are a step to far!!
Below is all the Donegal Oireacthas Members email address’s so folk have them to add the cc when emailing Jmaes O’ Reilly. joe.mchugh@oireachtas.ie, “Pearse Doherty” , “Charlie McConalogue” , “Dinny McGinley” , “Thomas Pringle” , “Pádraig MacLochlainn” , “Brian ODomhnaill” , “Jimmy Harte” ,
I just sent off my email to Mr. James Reilly.
Dear Mr. Reilly,
Please Please reconsider these drastic cuts in Letterkenny General Hospital. We are dealing with the very minimum of services at the moment as it is. The great staff we DO have working there at at the momet are streched to their capicaty but are doing there best. The way I see it is … if there has to be cuts made it is always the vunerable that are hit… eg. the sick, the disabled, the old and and young of the country …. is this because these are an easy and vunerable target for you to attack???
I urge you to sit back and take stock and have a good look around you, there are alot more areas in our society today that could be trimmed back and can well afford to be, beginning at the top (people with the high income ) maybe cut back on some peoples expense accounts. As far as I can see some of these so call expense accounts are worth more than some old age pensoners money or maybe more than someones disability benifit, so The people of Donegal and of Ireland are only going to take so much.
I trust I will hear from you and you will carefully reconsider these cuts.
I don’t mean to belittle the fact that we really need to drive it home to this government, that we as a country can’t continue this way. However i do feel slightly sorry for this Minister when realistically, the majority of the savings that he could achieve is from wage cuts. Croke Park is really proving to be a handicap for him and i’m sure croke park is protecting a lot of people. I’m refering to the guys on big saleries obviously.
The sad thing is, the savings he is making is impacting on services severely but not impacting really on the budgeting of the country so really we are just creating a viscious cycle, the costs of fixing the problems exposed by these cuts are greater than the initial savings…
This anger & frustration should be directed & vented towards both Dr.Reilly’s foot soldiers in Tir Chonaill, notably Joe Mc Hugh & Dinny Mc Ginley. It was foretold by me back in February 2011 when the good people of our beautiful island overwhelmingly voted in Na Léinte Gorma & their west-brit policies. You reap what you sow in life, & alas, it is now unfortunately coming to realisation. I just hope in the imminent (within 3 months, I reckon) General Election you all will vote with your conscience this time around, & not with your feet. Both the blue-shirt elected representatives in our beleaguered county should hold their heads in utter shame. Joe Mc Hugh’s use of foolish rhetoric regarding this matter is absolutely despicable & deplorable to say the least. You can Mc Hugh, fool the electorate some of the time, but not all of the time. You have, not before time, put the final nail in your political coffin! Tír Chonaill abú, mar is gnáth!
Dear Minister O’ Reilly,
We in Donegal very urgently request that you, the Dept of Health & The HSE seriously re-consider the
budget cuts, re-recruitment embargo & no additonal funding to open the new ED Unit at Letterkenny General Hospital.
All of the above are having a major impact on key health services at Letterkenny General Hospital.
The budget inequalities for Letterkenny General Hospital compared to other hospitals over the years and the lack of recognition
at National level for the key services & major success’s must now be addressed as a matter of urgency. Other hospitals had lots more funding in there budgets with less or slightly more patients!!!!
These massive cuts are not acceptable and are & will have serious health impilcations for the sick people of Donegal.
I ask again where responsibilty for lack of access & availability at Letterkenny General Hospital to key services when they are needed
is it you Minister O’ Reilly, The Dept of Health, The HSE or Government that we hold responisible? Is it you all together or just you Minister O’ Reilly?
Who will be liable for the impact on peoples health if the health services that they have been treated for or need at Letterkenny Hospital are not available when they need them?
This really is a step too far! Letterkenny General Hospital required budget & staffing must be revisited with not additional but the necessary funds made available to meet the health care service needs of the sick people of Donegal.
I await a response please,
Yours Sincerely,
Betty Holmes,
Kate I agree with you, Donegal will be junk mail again!!That why I think we should cc all emails to Minister Reilly to our Donegal Oireachtas Members,(they are part of the Governemnt) after all we the people who send them will know to contact them and ask what the replies are and the Minister’s Office will know that a record is being kept in Donegal!! The difficulties LGH are having are primarily because of the cuts to the hospital budget, the recruitment emabargo and no additional funding to open the new unit. Email away but make sure they are cc to Donegal Oireachats Members, put /give responsiblity back to them aswell as the Minister for Health!
Possibly add non government TD’s to that list as well.It will be harder for them to deny getting them if others outside of FG/LAB have evidence that they got them.
So the case may be Kate. However, on the way up the political ladder, you meet the same people on the way down, literally! An imminent election awaits us, where all our voices will be heard & our anger vented through the democratic ballot box. Joe Mc Hugh is very much associated with & incorporated into every draconian measure introduced by this west-brit party, Ná Léinte Gorma in the past 18 months. Tír Chonaill abú, mar is gnáth, agus i gconaí!
Lloyd — please don’t use this issue to push your sinn fein nut case politics. As much as I detest our politicians I’m not going to jump out of the frying pan into the fire. Take her meds–generic ones of course
Your living in cloud cuckoo land if you think there is going to be a general election anytime soon.
The people of Ireland voted into power this Government so have to deal with the consequences of their actions by which they voted.
There won’t be an general election until 2014.
Also the Unions of this country are jumping up and down about James Reilly who has set himself on course for a battle with trade unions after declaring that the Croke Park Agreement needs to be renegotiated.
These are the same Unions who take money out of their Union members wages to line their own pockets.
Just for the record the Croke Park Agreement lasts until the end of 2014 which is when the next general election will be so between now and then the cuts have to come from somewhere as the wages can’t be touched because of the Croke Park Agreement.
For the record
We fund unions to the tune of 15 million a year. Now there is an easy cutback.
FF funded them to keep them sweet and fg/lab are following on. By the way, sinn fein wouldnt cut this allowance or get rid of choke park either!! Where the money gonna come from?
Answer: You and me. This is just the beginning of the big squeeze.
Most of the IMPACT trade union members will NOT take a pay cut so therefore the health services have to be cut to keep their wages from being cut instead.
As for Sinn Féin their spokesperson Pearse Doherty is in Australia on a all for paid expenses trip.
Cathal I mean send the cc to all Donegal Oireacthtas Members all 6 TD’s & 2 Senators.
If all have it then they all know who got the messages and so does Minister O Reilly’s office! Protect Letterkenny General Hospital for the sick people in Donegal! Put health 1st!
Some peurile & infantile replies to my humble, but frank view! However, one is entitled to ones opinion. Furthermore, there will be a General Election pretty soon, watch this space! Left-wing socialism (Labour, apparently) & right-wing fascism (Ná Léinte Gorma) is a definite marriage made in hell. Subsequently, where did tunnel-vision, narrow-minded, politically uninformed Mark find any reference to Sinn Féin in my post???? Tír Chonaill abú, mar is gnáth, agus i gconaí.

You do all realise he has a personal assisant who will send all emails to junk mail!!!
I believe whoever receives his emails, is obliged to reply to any legitimate query or complaint sent to him.
Of course, knowing this government, they might just cut the cost and effort of replying, and claim it as a cost cutting exercise
