Were you a member or follower of ‘The Emerald’ or ‘Town Band’ from 1969 to 2000.? If so, a group of former band members are hoping to hear from you?
Forget about selling tickets. This is a chance for former band members to meet up and reminisce about times gone by.
The local group are also hoping to reform the ‘band’ again. This will take a bit of help but with the good will and support shown earlier this year from former band members, they’re hopeful this will come together.
An ad hoc committee has been busy trying to get the pieces in place to reform the ‘band’ again .
“We’re hoping that former band members will come on board and help us out,” Tony Duffy, who was a member of the first band in 1969 said.
“I’ve been there ever since. The band is a great social network and there is a real buzz again. We had a reunion on August 25 in The Station House Hotel and we had over 300 people there. We all played again and it was a great success,” he added.
Anybody in interested in helping with the plans to reform ‘the band’ contact Hughie McCauley (086-8432488), Tony Duffy (086-0566061) or Patrick Doherty (086-1066073).
There is a meeting on Friday October 12, in The Constance Centre, Loreto Convent (back gate) at 8 pm for anyone who would like to come along.
