JUDGING by the number of trophies picked up by the girls and boys on the youth teams at St Eunan’s GAA club, it was a very successful year.
And the club’s All-Ireland winning heroes Kevin Rafferty and Rory Kavanagh were on hand with the Sam Maguire at the Minor Board dinner at the Mount Errigal Hotel tonight.
Members of the club’s winning girls and boys teams were presented with medals marking their successes in a host of competitions in 2012.
In a speech to more than 400 guests, Rory Kavanagh praised the underage teams for their efforts last year.
And he said when he won the All-Ireland with Donegal in September his thoughts turned immediately to the coaches who had worked so hard with him in his youth.
He also paid tribute to Kevin Rafferty who has retired from inter-county football.
Letterkenny Mayor Dessie Larkin said it was a proud night for him. His great-grandfather, his grandfather, father and himself had all won honours with the club – and tonight his daughter was being honoured.
And a chuffed Alan O’Connell was named Minor Board Person of the Year.
