Gardai have used JCBs to carry out a new dig of an area identified as a possible burial place of missing Mary Boyle.MARY BOYLE

The area had been identified by a team from the Sunday World newspaper who used a specialist geo-physical scanning team called Scan-Tech to identity the exact location.

The location was due to be passed on by the newspaper this week.

However Donegal Daily understands the location was not passed on to Gardai before the new dig took place.

It is not understood that anything of note was found during the new search.

However a spokesman for the Garda Press office said they were not making any statement on the new dig.
