The Diamond in Donegal Town was once again the scene of euphoric jubilation as the Donegal Town Community Band brought home its second in a row All Ireland title.

The reformed band took the No 1 accolade in Derry yesterday at Fleadh Cheoil ne hEireann.

Pauric Kennedy, one of the founders of the reformed band paid tribute to the hard work of the children, their parents and guardians.

He also empasised the word ‘community’ and to rapturous applause, told the large crowd present”This is your band, you should be proud of it.”DSC_0025

And proud they were as band leader Brendan McMonagle, acknowledged the many people previously and curently involved.

Donegal Town’s Mayor Patrica Callaghan took up the theme of community and wished the band all the best next year in Sligo for the next Fleadh Cheoil.

The reformed St Peter’s National School Band had the honour of leading the band into the Diamond.

Many thanks to Paul O’Sullivan for the pictures.
