Deputy Joe McHugh has welcomed a meeting with Minister Reilly and parents of children with diabetes on Paediatrics Diabetic Services at Letterkenny General Hospital.
Deputy Joe McHugh, TD, commenting on the meeting: “Following a public meeting last week in Letterkenny with parents of children who have diabetes, I contacted the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly, and arranged a meeting with a delegation of parents and medical professionals so they could address their concerns directly with the Minister, his officials in the Department of Health and officials from the HSE.
“The Minister has met previously with the group and is very aware of their concerns and is working hard to find a way to resolve the issue.
“I also welcome that efforts raising this issue have been a cross-party effort, with my fellow Donegal colleagues raising the matter in the Chamber. It is reassuring to see that when an issue as serious as the health and well-being of children is being discussed, that we can leave aside party politics and work in unison to ensure the best outcome is achieved for these children and their parents.”
