John O’Donnell celebrates after being elected in the Letterkenny electoral area.

Letterkenny Community Residents Group says it no longer wants Cllr John O’Donnell to attend its meetings.

It follows ongoing scandals surrounding the independent councillor.

“We decided at the monthly meeting last night that we will not invite John O’Donnell to attend future meetings with our group,” the group said in a statement.

“We have organised several meetings in the last year where we have invited all ten councillors from the Letterkenny Municipal District to meet with representatives of residents associations throughout the town to discuss the concerns and problems of residents.

“It has been a very useful and necessary platform with the demise of the town council which councillors have been very supportive of in terms with their attendance and in addressing the issues raised.

“We are very disappointed in the content of the RTE Investigates programme and John O’Donnell’s comments and behaviour on that programme. We have therefore decided that when we invite councillors to meet with residents in the near future, we will no longer invite John O’Donnell but will continue to invite the other nine councillors from the Letterkenny Municipal District.”
