Minister Joe McHugh has welcomed developments on the A5 Road.
Minister McHugh said he is extremely pleased to hear that the consultation process has commenced on the A5 Road, of which the Irish Government under Fine Gael has committed €115M to the project.
He said “While I was Chairperson of the Good Friday Agreement Committee, I ensured that the A5 project was kept on the Agenda and the commitments that were made were followed through.
“The A5 is very important to the North West and additional funding is critical to the keeping the recovery going across the island. This infrastructure will help connect Donegal, Derry City and the wider region to the rest of Ireland and will benefit companies, communities, commuters and tourists alike.
“I have been informed that the consultation period will start week commencing 15 February 2016 and run until 4 April 2016. It is hoped that construction will start next year on the £150million Newbuildings to north of Strabane section of this road.”
