Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Daniel O’Donnell has said he won’t be dusting off his dancing shoes to take part in the new series, but he would encourage other celebrities to sign up.
“I think once was enough to do that,” O’Donnell told RTÉ Entertainment. “But I have to say it’s a great show and I would encourage anybody to do it, and I’d hope they wouldn’t be as nervous as I was to do it. I don’t know why I was so nervous doing it…”
“Even now, when they’re announcing the people for Strictly, there’s a wee bit of me that thinks wouldn’t it be great to be starting it again, even though I would die,” he laughed.
O’Donnell is gearing up for a second series of Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip, which sees him travel around Ireland with his wife Majella, staying in a number of B&Bs and soaking in the local atmosphere and community spirit.
Reflecting on the first series, he said he couldn’t believe how well received it was by viewers.
“We had a brilliant time recording the show, but when the idea came up about doing it, we hadn’t anticipated it, maybe being so much fun for us, but certainly being so well received by the public,” he said.
“We hope that this year people get the same fun out of it… It’s funny for us that people enjoy us being just as we are and there’s not very much cut out; if we’ve a tense moment it’s generally there.”
