Temple Domestic Appliances Division One
Gweedore United 1 Cappry Rovers 4
This game played in good conditions at Carrickboyle saw the visitors leave with the three points following a good second half display. In the opening half it was United, with the aid of the strong breeze, who created good early chances for Michael Barry, Eoin Ward and Darren Ferry. The home side took a deserved lead in the 14th minute when a great pass from Darren Ferry was well finished into the bottom corner from 15 yards giving Mc Bride in the Cappry nets with no chance. The home side continued to press and saw a number of good chances well saved by Conor Mc Bride. The visitors began to create a number of chances and Paddy Mc Nulty and Calvin Bradley brought the best out of Brian Gallagher in the United nets. The visitors equalised on the stroke of half time when United failed to clear and Bradley finished well after a good cross from Gerrard Melaugh. In the second half Cappry dominated possession and made it 2-1 in the 60th minute after Bradley once again finished well from close range. It was 3-1 in the 75th minute when Ryan Mc Hugh tapped in from close range. Mc Hugh was on the mark again in the 81st minute when he got Cappry’s 4th to secure a good three points. Mark Mc Fadden was unlucky not to pull one back in the 88th minute when his excellent shot was cleared. Paddy Mc Nulty was excellent for Cappry with Eoin Ward excelling for United on the day. Referee: Dessie Mc Laughlin
Keadue Rovers 4 Bonagee United 1
Keadue Rovers won to get their first points of the league campaign. The game was played in blustery conditions with the first effort of the game coming on eight minutes when Shaun Yank Boyle had his shot saved. Another chance from a header fell to Corey Gallagher two minutes later but Keadue were rewarded for their good early spell when Shaun Yank Boyle finished well low to the net on twelve minutes. After a few more half chances Keadue went two up just after the half hour when a great ball through the home defence by Shaun Yank Boyle was met on the run by Corey Gallagher and he made no mistake with a first time effort firing home having spotted the keeper off his line. It was to remain the same until half time and the home side were good value for their lead. In the second half Ryan Greene had a good chance in the opening minutes but had his effort saved, he wasn’t to be denied two minutes later with number three when Corey Gallaghers’ cross was met at the far post. Bonagee though to their credit kept plugging away and close to the hour mark forced a few free kicks and had more possession and on fifty eight minutes were awarded a penalty following a foul in the box. Paddy Mc Gowan however missed the spot kick. On the hour mark Bonagee did score when full back Shane Kelly lobbed the keeper from distance for a good goal. Bonagee did have a lot more possession from that point on but didn’t really force the keeper into any saves. The home side were good on the break with David Ward and Corey Gallagher doing well. In the last minute of the game, from a through ball, Corey Gallagher made it 4-1 on the run, finishing well with his left foot. A good Keadue victory and a battling performance from Bonagee with the scoreline a bit harsh on them. Best for Keadue were Corey Gallagher, Shaun Yank Boyle and Daniel McHugh while best for Bonagee were Shane Kelly, Graham Cullen and Dylan Sweeney. Referee: Con McLaughlin.
Donegal Town 1 Erne Wanderers 1
Donegal started the game the better of the two sides and were unlucky not to be a goal in front after 5 minutes. Ben Sweeney had too much pace for the Erne defence when he broke from the halfway line but was unlucky to see his shot pass wide of the post. Donegal were awarded a penalty on the 15th minute mark when Declan Browne was brought down inside the Erne box and Raymond Mc Groary made no mistake from the spot. Donegal had a number of other good chances in the first half but failed to stretch their lead. Erne started the second half the better of the two teams and soon got themselves back on level terms. Micky Ward headed the ball on to the feet of David Dolan and he made no mistake from close range. Both teams were reduced to 10 men soon after following a scuffle between two players. Erne dominated the reminder of second half and will feel unlucky not to pick up all 3 points. Donegal’s goalkeeper Liam O’Meara pulled of a number of first class saves to earn his team a point. 1-1 the full time score.
CT Ball Division Two
Letterbarrow Celtic 8 Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 2
Letterbarrow provided long serving Club Chairman James Mc Groary with his perfect 60th birthday present. The visitors opened the scoring on ten minutes when Kevin Mc Gonigle’s cross deceived the home keeper and found the top corner of the net. The lead was short lived as Dermot Slevin headed home from a corner to draw the sides level. On thirty minutes Nathan Carr put Letterbarrow into the lead when he headed home from close range after a superb counter attack. The home side made it three one just after the restart when Dermot Slevin slotted home from inside the box. Five minutes later Gerard Mc Brearty made it four for Letterbarrow when he poked home after a scramble in the box. Thirty nine years to the day after his father scored for the club on his twenty first birthday James Mc Groary Junior scored a fifth after he turned in a great cross. It was six shortly after that when Nathan Carr’s work rate was rewarded when he scored from eight yards. Donal Callaghan pulled a goal back for the visitors with a superb free kick. However Alexi Mc Neilis added two further goals in the final ten minutes to secure the points.

Oscar Traynor Trophy
Donegal Junior League 1 Cavan / Monaghan League 2
The Donegal Junior League were defeated in their opening match in this season’s Oscar Traynor Trophy. They were two down at the interval after Enda Hessin and Dean Connolly scored for the Monaghan/Cavan League. Kyle Black pulled one back for Brian Dorrian’s side early in the second half but they were unable to find an equaliser. They will now probably need to win their remaining two matches to progress to the next stage of the competition.
SATURDAY REPORTS

Glencar Inn Saturday Division
Drumbar F.C. 1 Glencar Celtic 2
Glencar came out on top in a close match played in difficult conditions in Drumbar. After early pressure Glencar took the lead following a poor clearance when the ball was picked up on the edge of the box by Paddy Collins and he slotted neatly into the far corner. The home side didn’t let the heads drop and soaked up the Glencar pressure before drawing level on the counter attack midway through the second half. Gareth Cassidy poking home following a defensive mix up. Just when the game looked to be heading for a draw Rory Gallagher found himself free in the Drumbar box to fire the decisive winner for Glencar. Positives to be taken for both teams with title chasing Glencar taking the valuable points while Drumbar look now to be heading in the right direction with another solid display.

Saturday Reserve Division
Milford United Reserves 4 Erne Wanderers Reserves 3
Milford took the lead after 20 minutes with JJ Fleming finding the back of the net at his second attempt. It was 2-0 soon after with Ryan Campbell robbing an Erne defender of possession to race through on goal and calmly slot home. Erne came back strong and pulled a goal back on 35 minutes with Michael Bowring scoring. It was 2-2 soon after with Mickey Gahan breaking the offside trap to slide home. Milford came out strong in the second half and made it 3-2 with Conor Meakin sending in a great cross and Ciaran Blaney was on hand to flick home. It was 4-2 on 70 minutes after another great cross, this time from Raymond Friel who found JJ Flemings head who nodded home for his second of the game. It was a nervy finish after Erne were awarded a penalty with ten minutes to go. Packie Hill made no mistake to make it 4-3. Milford held on though for a much needed 3 points. A good team performance from Milford with JJ Fleming standing out. Best for Erne was David Dorian.
Glenree United Reserves 0 Keadue Rovers Reserves 3
The first half was hampered by poor weather conditions, making it hard for both sides to get the ball down and play. It was Keadue that went in at half time a goal up after they took the lead in the last minute of the half when the midfielder played a high ball through and ran through and tucked it away into the net. Twenty minutes into the second half Keadue were two up after the ball clipped the defender from a corner and spun onto the head of the Keadue striker and into the net. The third goal came from a cross that wasn’t dealt with and killed off any chance of the home side getting anything out of this match.
Best for Glenree: John Mc Groddy. Team effort from Keadue Rovers.
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 2 Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves 6
Kilmac left The Moss with all three points and it was nothing more than they deserved. Drumoghill started well and were ahead on five minutes when Ross Hamlin fired home from close range after beating the off side trap. Kilmac were level on ten minutes when Micheal Mc Laughlin converted from the penalty spot. Kilmac really got going after this and grabbed two quick goals before half time through Ryan Langan who slotted one in at the back post from a Timmy Burke cross and Micheal Mc Laughlin got his second of the day when he latched onto a Ciaran Bonnar ball in behind the Drumoghill defence. Kilmac started the second half where they left off and got another two quick goals through Darren Mc Ginley and Christopher Dillon. Drumoghill however did pull one back through Jaydee only for Micheal Mc Laughlin to round off his team’s performance with the final goal of the game, and his own hat-trick, when he rounded the keeper to slot home.
St. Catherines Reserves 0 Glenea United Reserves 3
St. Catherine’s played host to Glenea United in the Saturday Reserve Division in Emerald Park. Both teams started the game very well, creating chances of which neither team could maximise. St. Catherine’s had a good chance to score when they had a shot that was saved by the Glenea goal keeper. Just as it looked that both teams would go into the half time break all level Glenea were awarded a penalty. Glenea one nil up at half time. The second half started with St. Catherine’s looking to get back on level terms but no matter how many chances they created they could not get passed the Glenea defence or goalkeeper. Midway through the second half Glenea doubled their lead when the ball was put into the box and the St. Catherine’s keeper came but missed it and it fell to a Glenea player who put the ball into the net. St. Catherine’s kept trying to get on the score sheet but nothing was going right for them. Glenea then scored a third goal when they played the ball into the box and a Glenea player beat a couple of players and put the ball into the net. 3-0 the final score.
Donegal Town Reserves 1 Cappry Rovers Reserves 4
Cappry Rovers ran out easy winners at The Hospital Field in this fixture with a very poor performance from the Donegal Town side. The home side nearly opened the scoring on five minutes when Joe Lafferty had a header from corner cleared off the line. It was end to end stuff from these two young teams but it was Cappry who went ahead when Brendan Mc Laughlin scored with a low shot from the edge of the box on twenty minutes. Cappry doubled their lead on the half hour when David Carr scored with a header at the back post. Donegal had several good chances to get back into the game and just before half time Ted Bustard headed home from a fine free kick from Matthew Mc Kenna on the left wing. The second half was brighter and both teams had chances but failed to convert and as the game wore on Cappry made it 3-1 after a defensive mix up. Cappry completed the scoring on seventy five minutes when Pete Lafferty scored the goal of the game from a direct free kick.
Best for Donegal were Ryan Hegarty, Matthew Mc Kenna, and Ted Bustard. Best for Cappry was Brendan Mc Laughlin. Referee: Frank Duff
