Letterkenny Golf Club last week welcomed Confederation of Golf Ireland club support officer Neil Kilgallon to partake in a Club Management and Operational Review as part of the club’s commitment to excellence for its members.
This is a continuation of the working of the club’s business plan and follows on from the survey carried out with it’s members earlier in the year.
Neil spent two days at the club, 8th and 9th November, and the review will become a working and referrel document for the club going forward. It’s findings will be shared with the members in the same way that the members survey has.
The main aspect of the review was to gain a broad overview of the club’s operations with it’s purpose to promote;
- A) business-like approach;
- B) support the development of golf at all levels;
- C) provide some short term recommendations/actions (0-12 Months);
- D) support the club’s structures to become more effective and sustainable going forward.
Among the information that was provided to Neil was:
membership information, machinery and proposed replacements, summary of 2015 AGM’s, minutes from recent club meetings and a copy of the current draft business plan.
Neil carried out discussions with club Officers, committee members, interested members, staff and also the team from Browns on the Green restaurant, now an integral part of the club.
What he looked at in detail was: 1)Club Governance and Management; 2)Membership and Visitor Profiles; 3)Staff and Services; 4)Financial Management; 5)Facilities Management; 6) Communications and Marketing/Sales; 7) Strategic and Business Planning.
Neil was also given a tour of all the club facilities, walked the course and, all in all, had an extremely busy two days.
