Donegal County Council have confirmed that the playground areas in Letterkenny Town Park have been power washed and disinfected following an incident over the weekend. The playgrounds are open again today to the public.

These playgrounds are widely used by both local and visiting children and their families and provide a safe place to play and an opportunity to spend quality time in the outdoors.

An incident occurred on Sunday night when vandals had soiled the slides, causing outrage among parents and upset for children who discovered it the next day.

A council spokesperson said: “Vandalising or damaging Council property in this way is an offence and we are currently working with the Gardaí to investigate these incidences and every effort will be made to identify the individual(s) responsible and to hold them to account for their actions.

“We are appealing to anyone with information on these incidences to contact the Gardaí in Letterkenny or the Council at 074 9153900 as soon as possible.
