Wrap up and wear plenty of layers!
That’s the message for St Patrick’s Day after a weather warning was issued for Co Donegal.
Heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for across the county today.
But that won’t stop parades from taking place in all corners of the Coolest Place on the Planet.
Lots of communities including Letterkenny, Twin Towns, Ardara, Dungloe, Dunfanaghy, Gaoth Dobhair, Bundoran, Donegal Town and Ballyshannon have been working hard on their floats this year.
But so far it has been Glenties who have stolen a march on the rest of the country.
Hundreds of people lined the Main Street of the famous town last night after midnight for Ireland’s first St Patrick’s Day parade of 2017.
The local Community Development Group were having difficulty booking marching bands and decided to ‘float’ the idea of a midnight parade.
And last night it proved a huge success.
Brian Carr of the local Development Committee for the town said the night was a huge success.
“It was great to see so many people come out and show a real sense of community. We might even have started a trend,” he laughed.
