Man began dealing drugs after he lost his building job

April 24, 2017

A young builder who took up dealing drugs after he lost his job was caught with more than €1,500 of cannabis when stopped by Gardai.

Cain Crossan, 23, was caught by Gardai in a car in Porthall, Lifford on March 26th last.

Garda Inspector Barry Doyle told Letterkenny District Court that Crossan was caught with a total of 12 clear bags of cannabis herb.

Gardai believes they were ‘deal bags’ and were for sale or supply and were valued at €1,540.

Inspector Doyle said Mr Crossan, of Glenfad, Porthall, Lifford, who has no previous convictions, was very co-operative when arrested and admitted the drugs were for sale or supply.

Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said he was labouring on a site four weeks previously but the site had closed down.

He said he had learned a solitary lesson after being introduced to the drugs business by “so-called friends.”

He asked JUdge Paul Kelly if he would consider adjourning the case for a Probation Report which Judge Kelly agreed to.

The case was adjourned until June 26th.
