As always 24/7 members were in action and flying the club colours in various locations across the world over the weekend.
Barcelona 70.3
Seven of our club members made the trip to sunny Callela in Barcelona last weekend to take on the Ironman 70.3 event. Known for its beautiful location at the Costa del Maresme and its distinctive lighthouse landmark, Calella is renowned as a tourism and sport hotspot. The field of 2,500plus athletes enjoyed a one-loop swim in the Mediterranean Sea that started and finished on the beach of Calella. The 90 km bike headed inland on closed roads before returning to the transition area on the beach. The two-loop run brought athletes along the coast to a turnaround at Pineda.
Jason Black was the first 24/7member home in an impressive time of 05:38, Pauric Kelly was just behind in 05:39:53.
The ever-dominant Margaret Kelly stole the show, finishing second in her age category Margaret completed the 70.3 event in a very impressive 05:52.
Brendan Meenan performed well also finishing in 06:18. John Cannon, taking part in his 25th half ironman event finished in an excellent 8th place in his age category completing the course in 06:35. Paul McNulty crossed the line in 07.33 and Alicia Quigley had a very impressive debut 70.3 finishing in 07:35.
Congrats to everyone who competed and enjoy the sunshine and celebrations.
