Maghery Fife and Drum Band have done it again.

The West Donegal band are now reigning All Ireland Champions – for a third time in a row!

This hat trick title coincides with the band’s 20th Anniversary of their first ever All Ireland win in 1997 at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann when the band introduced their known cream and green attire for the first time following 2years competing at Fleadh as the ‘Red Coats’ in 1995 and 1996.

Their journey over 22 years competing at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann has collected now in total 7 Senior All Ireland Titles, 3 junior All Ireland Titles and multiple Donegal and Ulster Titles.

Over the duration of this time this is however their first hat trick Title at Fleadh having only gained A Hat Trick title before with International Champion Status.

Maghery have had 2 attempts at a three in a row during their competitive career and third time was really a charm as they triumphed yesterday in Ennis.

The band has grown from strength to strength since their jump from the Junior section to Senior in 2013 and have been noted as being exceptionally innovative and entertaining with their routine combining creative Music, Drill and Drumming skills.

The members have had great success in the past 5 years and especially so with all members being maintained within their ranks. Their hard work, dedication and commitment has to be noted as they have been training like athletes over recent months ahead of competing at the Fleadh.

The standard at which they and their competitors have trained and performed at is among the greatest the Fleadh has to offer in the Marching Bands Competition.

All the bands who competed yesterday performed wonderful routines and the band wishes all of them congrats and look forward to the future which is very very bright!

The band are en route to Maghery today and are expected to be arriving at the Gweebara Bridge at 7:30pm this evening.

We will be arriving in Dungloe at 8pm where we will be performing on Main St and finally to Maghery where we also perform our routine outside Ionad an Machaire.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page for further updates as there may be delays due to traffic etc!
