Donegal County Council has pleaded with people not to make unnecessary journeys tonight during torrential rainfall.
A council spokesman has said a number of areas are treacherous and should be avoided.
These include the Bridgend Roundabout as well as part of the Killea and the Letterkenny to Lifford road.
The council has issued a special notice on its Facebook page warning people to take extra care.
It confirmed that every effort is being made to respond to flooded areas.
“We are receiving reports of extensive flooding around the county. Please avoid any unnecessary trips and if you need to go out drive with extreme care.
“There is extensive flooding on road between Manorcunningham and Lifford and extreme card is needed.
“Our Road and Fire service crews are out dealing with flooding incidents and every effort is being made to respond to all requests.”
