The new full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released – and fans are counting down the days to the official release of the major blockbuster.
The next chapter in the sci-fi adventure saga arrives in cinemas in just over 60 days and tickets are already being booked for special screenings across Donegal. The new trailer has plenty of sneak peeks into what’s in store for the film.
The trailer depicts many scenes with an Irish landscape, including Malin Head in Co. Donegal. Malin and Skellig Michael off the Kerry coast provide the jarring setting of Ahch-To in this episode.
Viewers can see Rey (Daisy Ridley) on the edge of the island training with a lightsaber as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) gives instruction. Fans will also appreciate the late Carrie Fisher as Leia in the trailer, who is concerned for her son Kylo (Adam Driver). There are fears that Rey could be drawn to the dark side, as implied in her conversation with Kylo.
Donegal felt the force of Star Wars ever since crews arrived in the county in 2016. A Millennium Falcon structure appeared on the rocky coastline as film stars were spotted locally.
Tourists eager to see filming locations have flocked to Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way to experience the unique world of Ahch-To in real life. That visitor boost is expected to rise further once the film comes to our screens.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled for release in mid-December. Tickets are already in hot demand across the world.
Selected local cinemas are set to show special double bills of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi back-to-back on 13 December 2017 – which means Christmas is coming early for Star Wars fans!
Eclipse Cinemas Lifford/Strabane have confirmed to Donegal Daily that on Wednesday December 13th, we can see Star Wars: The Force Awakens @ 9.30pm and then Star Wars: The Last Jedi @ 00.05 all for €10 per ticket. “Also to celebrate the release on Sat 16th we will have a Storm Trooper and Darth Vader in the Cinema from 1.45pm – 2.45pm,” a spokesperson said. Eclipse are now taking bookings online here: liffordcp.admit-one.eu/LIFFORDCP
