October 26, 2017

A minibus bus driver has been found not guilty of causing the death of a Letterkenny mother-of-three Sheena Stewart.

William McKee had been charged with driving without due care and attention in Ballyshannon on January 1st, 2015, following a legal submission, at Donegal Town Circuit Court.

Mr McKee, of Carricknahorna, Cashelard, Ballyshannon, had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, Judge John Aylmer ruled the 55-year-old man must be acquitted following a legal submission by Defence Counsel Colm Symth.

Earlier in the trial, Mr McKee has said he thought he had run over a cardboard box when he had actually been involved in a collision with Ms Stewart.

Judge Aylmer expressed his sympathy with the family of the late Ms Stewart for their loss.
