November 1, 2017

A Co Donegal man who sexually abused four young schoolboys more than 20 years ago is behind bars after finally being brought to justice.

Scott Turner, 44, who is originally from Letterkenny, was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow of the vile offences which took place at addresses in Clydebank between December 1991 and November 1998.

Two of Turner’s victims were 11 when he began abusing them and the other were aged seven and eight.

The court heard that one of Turner’s victims who is now 31 blurted out what happened to him and the police were contacted.

Turner denied the charges against him and claimed they had never taken place.

Prosecutor Jim Keegan QC said: “The accused lives in the Republic of Ireland. He resided in Scotland during the time of the offences.

“He has two previous convictions for minor offences and has never been in custody before.”

Judge Craig Scott placed Turner on the sex offenders’ register. And told him: “You have been convicted of significant offences.”

Sentence was deferred until November 29 at the High Court in Edinburgh in order to obtain background reports.
