A man who got into his car after having a row with his father and then crashed it into a telegraph pole in Killygordon has been fined.

Brian Cassells was found by Gardai at the scene of a single-vehicle accident Carricknamana, Killygordon at 6.30am.

Inspector Goretti Sheridan told Letterkenny District Court that Cassells’ white Berlingo van had struck the pole after he had been “driving around.”

He didn’t have insurance for the van or a driving license and failed to produce it at a Garda station in the specified time.

Cassells, of Melmount Road, Sion Mills, had no previous convictions.

Judge Paul Kelly fined the accused €250 for having no insurance and disqualified him from driving for two years.

He fined him a further €300 for not having a driving license and failing to produce.
