Road users are being urged to take extra care as slushy roads, freezing weather and compacted snow create difficult driving conditions.
Donegal County Council gritters were deployed at the earlier time of 5pm this evening to assist on main roads. However, many untreated local roads remain covered in ice.
Strong winds and thundery downpours are in store tonight, with a risk of spot flooding and of those showers turning to snow in western counties. There are warnings of wind gusts of between 90 and 110km/h at coastal areas.
Temperatures will range from +1 to -1 tonight, with a dry and bright day expected on Tuesday.
The cold snap shows no signs of letting up this week, with frost and snow forecast each night until the weekend.
