A photogenic boxer dog from Letterkenny is hoping to get her paws on a highly coveted title – the Nose of Tralee.
The pet competition runs annually alongside the Rose of Tralee, with 32 county finalists of all shapes and sizes competing for a prize.
Cats, dogs, horses and even a pig have competed in the contest that is decided by online public vote.
Roxette is Donegal’s finalist for 2018. Owned by pet photographer Elina, the boxer is well-used to being in front of the camera.
Elina told Donegal Daily about her dog’s star qualities: “She is intelligent, patient, athletic and energetic, playful dog that likes to stay busy all the time. She always prefers to be in company giving hugs and sloppy kisses, that is her favorite job, no matter how old you are.
“She is just about the sweetest friend a human could have. Sometimes she likes to do silly things and make silly faces. She is a perfect family pet and we love her to the moon and back,” Elina said.
Elina is hopeful that Roxy will be Ireland’s winning pet of the year, and receive a prize including a photo shoot with David Mcauley photography, and a range of prizes from Pet Sitters Ireland, Dabble in Art, Buster Box and Naturo Pet Food.
All finalists from the last 5 years of the competition will also be invited to a Nose of Tralee party at the end of August.
