Man’s driving brought him to the attention of gardai

September 9, 2018

A man whose manner of driving brought him to the attention of gardai has pleaded guilty to charges of drink driving.

Conor Tinney of Goldrum, Termon was stopped by Gardai at High Road, Letterkenny on May 1, 2015 after they observed him turning a corner sharply.

He subsequently provided them with a breath specimen which returned a reading of 65mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

Letterkenny District Court heard the 22-year-old defendant has just finished studying business and marketing at college in the USA and has applied for a visa to return.

His solicitor, Kieran Dillon, asked Judge Kelly to postpone any disqualification until February 1, next year in order to give Tinney time to get his affairs in order.

Judge Kelly agreed to the postponement, imposed a fine of €300 and disqualified the defendant from driving for a period of two years.
