A man has died and another man injured after a tree fell in Co. Armagh this afternoon.
The high winds of Storm Ali led to the tragic incident at lunchtime at Slieve Gullion Forest Park outside Meigh.
It is understood the two men were working for the NI Water utility company at the time.
The injured man was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Earlier today, a woman in her 50s died after a caravan was blown off a cliff in Co. Galway.
The woman is believed to have been a Swiss tourist staying in a holiday park when the caravan she was inside was swept off cliffs at Clifden. The body was recovered on the beach below.
Storm Ali has brought severe wind gusts of up to 130km/hr as it tracked over Ireland today. The strongest gust recorded at Met Eireann’s Malin Head station was 90km/hr between 12noon and 1pm.
A Status Yellow wind warning remains in place in all counties until 5pm.
Met Eireann are warning that exposed North and North West areas of Ireland will continue to experience severe gusts this evening. Squally showers and a risk of thunder have been forecast.
186,000 ESB customers are without power during the storm.
