Man appears in court following death crash

October 1, 2018

A 22-year-old man from Cork has appeared in court following the death of a man outside Letterkenny last month.

Henry Kiely, of Kilbarry Cottage, Old Mallow Road, was previously charged with two counts of dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and having no driving license and no insurance.

Kiely appeared at Letterkenny District Court today (Mon).

His solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, told the court that he is awaiting directions in the case from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He asked for the case to be put back until January next.

It follows a crash at Dooballagh on the main Letterkenny to Ballybofey Road on September 6th last.

A Maza car was in collision with a Toyota Hilux jeep.

A local farmer, 55-year-old Francie Browne, was critically injured in the crash and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

He died from his injuries the day after the crash.
