October 8, 2018

A man has appeared in court charged with rape, attempted rape and assault.

The man appeared at Letterkenny District Court today where he denied all the charges against him.

Garda Grainne McLoone told the court the allegations were put to the man and he replied “I’m innocent”, “It’s a lie” and “I’m not guilty.”

Solicitor Rory O’Brien told the court that his client had been arrested by arrangement.

The court was told that there was no objection to bail.

The man was released on his own cash bail of €300 with a number of conditions.

He was told to sign on twice a week at Letterkenny Garda station, provide and mobile phone number, not to contact the alleged injured party and to surrender his passport.

Judge Paul Kelly adjourned the case until December 7th to allow for the completion of a book of evidence in the court.
