Eir has apologised to thousands of its customers following widespread internet outages across its network yesterday.
Service has been restored to Eir customers who were without an internet connection on Saturday night.
Customers in Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Louth, Wicklow, Meath, Cavan, Cork, Sligo, Mayo, and Donegal were without connection last night due to what Eir is describing as a ‘DNS server problem’.
Many contacted Eir via its Twitter account to criticise the firm’s customer service, and failure to indicate how long it will take to fix the problem.
A statement from the company said: “Service has been restored to those Eir customers that were impacted by the internet access outage. We apologise again to our customers for the inconvenience this has caused.
“The outage was caused by a problem with an Eir DNS server that arose at approximately 14.30 on Saturday afternoon. Full service was restored around twelve hours later.”
