The Ray Men on the Move inspired a community movement this year which generated €13,646 for the Cancer Care West.
The grand total was presented to the charity on Tuesday night, which was a very proud moment for the local fundraisers after many months of events and challenges.
The donation was the proceeds of a community-wide fundraising effort centred around the Ray Men on the Move team who took part in the Donegal Ultra 555k Cycle.
Four Ray Men on the Movers participated in the gruelling race: Billy McMahon, Peter Mc Ateer, Seamus Mc Ateer and Seamus Gavigan. They completed it in an impressive 20 hours 21 minutes and 52 seconds.
The team’s iDonate page gathered €1,000 in donations thanks to supporters’ generosity.
The Ray Men on the Move kickstarted a number of other fundraisers which ensured everyone in the community could get involved in supporting Cancer Care West.
Events included: Vintage coffee morning and car boot sale, 5K in memory of Bridget McGrath, family fun day, raffle for a framed Seamus Coleman-signed shirt, ‘guess how much is in the bottle’ game and a ‘No Uniform’ day and cake sales at local schools.
The Ray Men on the Movers were supported by their sponsors:
Holiday Home Services, Gallagher Lawn Services, JM Marine, Beachcomber Bar, Divers Hardware, Tom Murray Pharmacy, Sheridan Security, Eco Atlantic Adventures, Bobby Doherty Agri Supplies, GM Roofing, PJ Design, Fabri Clad Engineering, Rite Financial Solutions, Kellys Toyota.
