January 7, 2019

Two Donegal men are facing murder charges in Australia after a man assaulted in Sydney died in hospital.

Christopher McLaughlin, 24, and Nathan Kelly, 21, were charged with grievous bodily harm and affray after the 66-year-old man was found with critical injuries on the side of the road in Summer Hill on December 29.

McLaughlin is from Malin and Kelly is from Glengad, both on the Inishowen Peninsula.

The man died in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital on Monday night.

Police in Australia have upgraded the charges against McLaughlin and Kelly to murder.

The pair, who had only been in Australia for a few months, are expected to appear before Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
