Fines for Derrymen caught speeding on busy Letterkenny road

Two Derrymen clocked driving more than 30km over the speed limit on a busy Letterkenny road have been fined.

Letterkenny District Court heard that Garda O’Dowd detected a black Nissan Xterra driving at 132km/h at Dromore, in a 100km/h speed zone, on July 21, 2017.

The vehicle was being driven by John Quad, with an address at 213 Lone Moor Road, Derry.

A fixed charge penalty notice was not paid.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered a fine of €250, payable within five days.

On July 22, 2017, the Court heard, Garda O’Dowd was operating a speed check at Dromore when he detected a white Audi traveling at 131km/h, in a 100km/h speed zone. The driver, Shaun Paul Barr, of 11 Lettershandoney, Drumahoe, Derry, did not pay a fixed charge penalty notice that was issued.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered a fine of €250, payable within five days.

Neither Quad nor Barr were present in court.
