Gardaí are investigating the tragic death of a man in Clonmany, who is thought to have died in his home some time ago.
The body of Shaun Grant, aged 53, was found in his home at Cleagh, Clonmany on Tuesday last.
Gardaí from Buncrana Garda Station made the discovery after a forced entry into the property. It is not known when Mr Grant died, as he had not been seen locally for many months.
A garda spokesperson said the case is being treated as a sudden death and foul play is not suspected. The state pathologist was notified and the case is expected to be investigated through a coroner’s inquest.
Investigations are expected to focus on how long Mr Grant lay deceased in the bedroom of his home.
Mr Grant’s absence from the community was not noted for some time as he often travelled between Dublin and Donegal for work. Mr Grant, who worked in insurance, was not married and was an only child, the Irish Sun reports.
A funeral Mass was held for Mr Grant in St. Mary’s Church Clonmany last Saturday.
